Overnight Closures Start Tonight for Highway 65 in Rocklin

ROCKLIN – Starting tonight, motorists can expect separate overnight closures this week of northbound and southbound State Highway 65 in Rocklin because of bridge work, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and City of Rocklin.

Crews will be erecting a temporary support structure for construction of the new Whitney Ranch Parkway interchange overpass over Highway 65 between Twelve Bridges Drive and Sunset Boulevard. Signs will direct motorists to the detour route. Here is the schedule for the closures:

  • Southbound Highway 65: Closed from 11 p.m. today (May 26) to 4 a.m. Wednesday (May 27). Southbound motorists will be directed to take Twelve Bridges Drive to Industrial Avenue to West Sunset Boulevard to Highway 65.
  • Northbound Highway 65: Closed from 11 p.m. Wednesday (May 27) to 4 a.m. Thursday (May 28). Northbound motorists will be directed to take West Sunset to Industrial to Twelve Bridges to Highway 65.

Weather or unexpected events may prolong or delay the work. If that is the case, additional closures would take place on southbound Highway 65 from 11 p.m. Thursday (May 28) to 4 a.m. Friday (May 29) and on northbound Highway 65 from 11 p.m. Monday (June 1) to 4 a.m. Tuesday (June 2).

The construction work is part of a $9.5 million project by the City of Rocklin and Caltrans to extend Whitney Ranch Parkway and construct a new interchange at Whitney Ranch and Highway 65.

Motorists are urged to “Be Work Zone Alert” and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.” Caltrans will issue updates on Twitter @D3PIO and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict 3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans QuickMap at: http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/
