Results (so far) of the Petition Requesting to Extend Blue Oaks Boulevard

On Jan 10th the City Council approved a $30,000 road extension between Phillip Road and Westbook to allow emergency services to get to the northwestern part of Westpark more quickly than having to drive the long way around. This is only a temporary route to improve public safety until the development community finishes the connection between Blue Oaks and Westbrook, which currently doesn't have an estimated start date.

It is important to understand that this road is only for emergency vehicles (not public vehicles) because it will not be built to standards.

I appreciate the fact the city is going to build a temporary road for emergency services response time. I think the city should should go a ahead and build the road to city standards so that it can be used for everyone that lives in the area. I have a child that attends Orchard Ranch Elementary and think this road being built to public standards would increase the safety around the school due to all the traffic it creates during pickup and drop off times. I have seen a couple close calls between students and vehicles at unattended crosswalks. This will also decrease the traffic around Chilton Middle school from all the families trying to get back to there residences. Come on Roseville do the right thing.
