Jeff Beigh named Roseville's Chief of Police

City Manager Dominick Casey is pleased to announce Jeff Beigh as the next Chief of Police following a highly competitive recruitment process. Beigh (pronounced bee), previously a Roseville police captain, will serve as Roseville’s 19th police chief, succeeding Chief Troy Bergstrom who retires on April 28.

“Jeff Beigh is a proven leader with deep institutional knowledge and strong citywide support. His people-centered approach to leadership is grounded in transparency, accountability, and community-oriented policing that builds trust and fosters operational excellence,” said Casey.

As chief, Beigh will oversee a $69 million annual operating budget and the department’s 240 sworn and professional staff in serving our community.

Roseville names Jill Nunes as next Director of Parks, Recreation and Libraries

Roseville City Manager Dominick Casey has appointed Jill Nunes as the City’s next director of Parks, Recreation & Libraries following a highly competitive recruitment. Nunes will start on May 18 and will succeed Jill Geller, who retires on May 29.

"Jill brings deep industry expertise and a strong record of transparent, collaborative leadership. Her people-first approach and ability to build community partnerships will continue to enhance Roseville’s legacy of delivering award-winning parks, recreation and library experiences," said Casey.

As PRL director, Nunes will lead a department of 165 full-time and 700 part-time and seasonal employees and manage an annual operating budget of $58 million supporting a new soccer complex, 90+ parks, recreation programming, 3 libraries, 3 aquatics facilities, 21 childcare centers, 2 golf courses, Maidu Museum & Historic Site, a fitness center, senior services, cultural arts, and more than 4,000 acres of natural areas for the Roseville community.

The City of Roseville recently debuted an updated website with a new URL, roseville.ca.gov, to better serve residents, businesses, and visitors.

The website features a more modern, accessible, and transparent experience. Updates were made with public survey feedback in mind. We’re still making improvements, so please pardon our digital dust as we finalize this transition.

Voting materials arriving soon for June 2 primary

The June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election is just over a month away – are you ready to vote, Placer?

State and county voter information guides have been mailed to all eligible voters – review them closely to see offices and measures on the ballot, your voting options, drop box and vote center locations, important deadlines and much more. Voting materials will be in the mail by Monday, May 4.

Want to watch your ballot being counted? Use “Sign, Scan & Go!” at the Elections Office as early as May 4.

Roseville improves water reliability with a new water system connection

The Roseville City Council has approved an agreement with the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) to formalize the shared operation and maintenance of the Woodcreek Intertie, strengthening water reliability for both PCWA and Roseville customers and the surrounding region.

The Woodcreek Intertie is a connection between the two water systems that allows water to move in either direction when needed. This connection gives both agencies more flexibility to respond when conditions change.

Free oil filter exchange every weekend in May

Every weekend in May, Roseville residents can bring in their used oil filter to participating AutoZone locations and receive a new FREE oil filter while supplies last. Funded in part by CalRecycle, this program makes it easy to recycle properly and keep used oil filters out of the landfill.

Atlantic/Vernon Street Traffic Improvements Project update

Median work will temporarily close the southbound lane on Vernon Street between the Atlantic and Vernon Street intersection and Lincoln Street starting this week. This closure will last approximately three to four weeks.

Please travel with care through the work area. Allow extra travel time.

Resurfacing work set for Junction Boulevard and Fairway Drive

Following preparation work, road resurfacing is scheduled for the following areas starting late-April:

• Fairway Drive between Stanford Ranch Road and Blue Oaks Boulevard

• Junction Boulevard between Foothills and Washington Boulevard

This work protects streets and reduces the need for costly street repairs in the future.

Roseville welcomes back the Big Boy No. 4014

The world’s largest steam locomotive, Big Boy No. 4014, is rolling back into Roseville on April 10-11 as part of Union Pacific’s first-ever "coast-to-coast" steam tour.

Spring cleaning just got easier. The City of Roseville and the Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (RCONA) are bringing back their free Neighborhood Clean-Up events, now entering their fourth year.

Spring clean-up days are scheduled on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

Resurfacing work set for Junction Boulevard and Fairway Drive

Following preparation work, road resurfacing is scheduled for the following areas starting mid-April:

• Fairway Drive between Stanford Ranch Road and Blue Oaks Boulevard

• Junction Boulevard between Foothills and Washington Boulevard

This work protects streets and reduces the need for costly street repairs in the future.

The work schedule is subject to change due to equipment, materials, weather, and other unexpected conditions.

Stopping sneaky leaks in their tracks

Finding a leak in Roseville’s water system is not always as simple as spotting water on the ground. With more than 725 miles of water mains and over 55,000 service connections, some leaks are easy to see, while others stay hidden underground.

Since 2022, Roseville’s proactive leak detection program has identified 119 leaks and tracked more than 12.3 million gallons in potential water savings.

Hunt down those leaks and save water

Leaks love to hide, but we are on a mission to catch them during Fix a Leak week, March 16-22! About 10 percent of households have leaks wasting enough water to fill 1,440 glasses every day. Not only does this drive up your water bill, but it can also cause damage to your home and garden.

Deputy City Manager Megan MacPherson Scheid announces retirement after distinguished public service career

Deputy City Manager Megan MacPherson Scheid has announced her intent to retire in May after nearly two decades of service to the City of Roseville. Her 34-year career began serving as a U.S. Navy Officer, followed by work in the private sector and for the County of Sacramento before joining Roseville in 2007.

In Roseville, she led community engagement for the City’s 2009 Centennial, guided communications through the Great Recession, and designed the two year Engage Roseville initiative during a period of critical budget decisions. Beyond communications and policy, Scheid became a catalyst for organizational culture and co-founded the City’s InvestHealth Roseville partnership in 2015, which continues to deliver grant funded community impact work. She has worked closely with every Mayor, City Council, and City Manager since 2007 on major citywide initiatives, including nearly two decades of strategic-planning workshops and State of the City events.

“Throughout her tenure, Megan’s been a trusted advisor to City leadership, a champion for transparency and belonging, and a driving force behind initiatives that strengthened both community trust and organizational culture,” said City Manager Dominick Casey. “She brings strategic thinking, empathy, and courage to her work, and her influence will be felt here for years to come.”

PRL Director Jill Geller to retire this spring following distinguished career

Jill Geller, Director of Parks, Recreation & Libraries (PRL), has announced her intent to retire later this spring after more than six years serving the Roseville community. Geller joined the City of Roseville in 2019, following a distinguished 25-year career with Johnson County Park and Recreation District in Kansas. 

Under her leadership, the department earned national accreditation from the National Recreation and Park Association, an honor achieved by only 2% of park and recreation agencies nationwide, and was named a finalist for the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management for four consecutive years.

"Jill’s vision, strong leadership and approachable style have been a real asset to Parks, Recreation & Libraries. She advanced long-standing goals while keeping people and community at the center of her work," said City Manager Dominick Casey.

Roseville Police Chief Troy Bergstrom celebrates lifetime career

Roseville Police Chief Troy Bergstrom announced he’ll be retiring this spring, celebrating more than 31 years in law enforcement, including 26 years with the City of Roseville. Road work closes a portion of Atlantic Street

Road work has temporarily closed a portion of Atlantic Street at the southbound right-turn from the Vernon and Atlantic Street intersection. Work will occur in the daytime on weekdays.

Please use an alternate route or follow detour signs. Allow extra travel time.

This work is part of the Atlantic/Vernon Street Traffic Improvements project that will help improve traffic flow and safety in the S-curve area between Lincoln and Yosemite.

Reliable water supports daily life in Roseville, from homes and schools to businesses and emergency services. New federal funding is helping Roseville build a resilient water system that supports daily needs, a strong local economy, and long-term reliability.

With this funding, Roseville can move forward on a regional water reliability project that provides direct access to the Placer County Water Agency’s Middle Fork Project. The 14-mile pipeline will connect the Middle Fork water supply to the Barton Road Water Treatment Plant, improving flexibility during dry years and emergencies when Folsom Lake water is not available.

Union Pacific Siren Testing

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, at noon, Union Pacific Railroad will be testing their emergency notification siren. Residents in the vicinity of the rail yard may hear the test siren.

Here are steps that we recommend all residents take to prepare for any emergency that might affect our region:

• Register for Placer Alert: This is an emergency notification system used by our Fire and Police departments to notify residents of emergency situations that may affect them and would be used in conjunction with the Union Pacific siren should there be an incident at the railyard where residents needed to be notified.

• Be prepared should you need to evacuate: More tips on how to be prepared can be found at www.ready.gov.

AI for Business: Practical tools for small businesses

Join us at the Roseville Venture Lab for a new monthly AI for Business workshop series designed to help small businesses put practical AI tools to work.

The first session takes place Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 6–8 p.m., and includes an introduction to AI, and how it can streamline daily tasks.

Our Cultural Arts programs give youth the chance to create, collaborate, and express themselves through music and art. Join Beat Making 101 on Saturday, Feb. 7; Paint with Purpose on Saturday, Feb. 21; and Art in Nature: Painting in the Park on Saturday, April 18.

Neighborhood clean-up events return for a fourth year in 2026

Spring cleaning just got easier. The City of Roseville and the Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (RCONA) are bringing back their free Neighborhood Clean-Up events, now entering their fourth year.

Spring clean-up days are scheduled on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

Behind early pickups and what we're doing about the noise

Many residents have shared feedback about noise at some recycling sites since the new front loader cardboard bins were installed. We hear you, and we agree that early morning noise can be disruptive.

Our team has been actively monitoring the new bins and collection activity, and we are continuing to work with our operations staff and partners to identify what is causing the loudest sounds and reduce them where possible. This includes reviewing collection practices and site conditions to help minimize noise during service.
