Celebrate the 4th of July with a full day of family fun! Kick off the morning with the "Run Crime Out of Roseville" 5K, then enjoy the patriotic parade through downtown at 9 a.m.

Continue the celebration at Royer Park with games and live music starting at 10 a.m., and end the day with a spectacular fireworks show at @the Grounds beginning at 9:15 p.m. Be sure to check important road closure and parking information before you go.

Celebrate responsibly this Fourth of July

Celebrate safely this Fourth of July by following California Safe and Sane Fireworks laws to prevent injury and potential fire hazards. The sale of Safe and Sane Fireworks is underway, and only fireworks that carry the Safe and Sane seal from the State Fire Marshal can be used in Roseville. Possession or discharge of illegal fireworks can result in citations and significant fines.

To ensure community safety, the Roseville Police Department will staff firework safety enforcement teams on July 3 and 4. These teams will be dedicated to firework related calls for service. Visit our Fireworks safety page for information on safe and sane fireworks, the City's amnesty program, violation fees, and other important information.

When the fireworks have faded from your Fourth of July celebration, it is important to handle the remnants safely. Proper fireworks disposal is about more than keeping your yard clean. It also helps prevent fires, protects sanitation workers, and reduces environmental impacts.

Fourth of July holiday hours

In observance of the Fourth of July, most City of Roseville offices will be closed on Friday, July 3.

Refuse service follows its regular daily pick-up schedule. The City remains staffed to provide safety and emergency services.

The following locations will be closed: administrative offices, public counters, Downtown Passport Facility, Adventure Club, Utility Exploration Center, and the Riley and Maidu Libraries.

Junction Boulevard and Fairway Drive road resurfacing update

Crews are continuing road resurfacing work to improve the road's durability and provide better traction. This work is the second of four steps in the resurfacing process. The surface will be course in appearance. As the resurfacing cures, loose gravel will shed from the roadway and leave a rough surface. This is normal and will decrease over time.

Please be prepared for construction-related traffic and increased noise levels. Be on the lookout for traffic signals flashing red with flaggers directing traffic. Treat intersection flashing red without flaggers as an all-way stop. Travel with care through the work zone.

Road resurfacing is expected to reach completion by late summer.

Atlantic and Vernon Street now open following traffic improvements

The Atlantic and Vernon Street S-curve is now fully open with new safety features for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Improvements include a lighted crossing, bike lanes, ADA compliant ramps, landscaped medians, and lane changes to help reduce collisions.

All traffic lanes have been restored, but please continue to travel with care as crews finish minor follow-up work.

Most residents never see the pipes, pumps, treatment plants, or crews behind these services. But every time water flows from a tap, a toilet flushes, or carts are collected at the curb, those systems are doing exactly what they were designed to do: support everyday life in Roseville.

Serve your community on the Transportation Commission

We are currently accepting applications for the Transportation Commission. Applications for this vacancy are due by Thursday, July 23, at 5 p.m.

The Transportation Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council related to the community’s transportation needs, including public transit; traffic circulation; bikeways and pedestrian facilities; and transportation systems management. The Transportation Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 311 Vernon Street, unless otherwise noticed.

The sale of Safe and Sane Fireworks begins on Sunday, June 28 at noon, and only fireworks that carry the Safe and Sane seal from the State Fire Marshal can be used in Roseville. Possession or discharge of illegal fireworks can result in citations and significant fines.

New this year: the Roseville Fire Department is offering an opportunity for residents to safely surrender illegal fireworks with no questions asked. Visit any Roseville fire station and directly hand the fireworks to a firefighter so they can be safely received and stored.

Junction Boulevard and Fairway Dr road resurfacing update

Crews are currently replacing damaged asphalt on Junction Boulevard as part of the first step of the resurfacing process. Please be prepared for construction-related traffic and increased noise levels. Be on the lookout for traffic signals flashing red, with flaggers directing traffic.

The second step will place a wearing layer on Junction Boulevard and Fairway Drive for durability and tire traction. The road may appear patchy and uneven between these steps.

Please travel with care through the work zone.

Resurfacing is a multi-step process and is expected to reach completion by late summer.

Join us for the final Big Trucks Summer event

Join us for action-packed fun this Thursday, June 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mahany Park for our final Big Trucks Summer event of the 10th anniversary celebration. This week, our Wastewater utility trucks will roll in to celebrate the finale of this beloved event.

Proposed FY2026-27 Budget released

The City of Roseville is pleased to present the Fiscal Year 2026-27 proposed budget for public review. This expense budget totals $877 million, including $258 million allocated to the General Fund operating budget and $408 million dedicated to enterprise funds (electric, water, wastewater, and waste services). Revenues citywide total $885 million.

We invite you to our City Council meeting on Wednesday, June 17 at 6 p.m., where City Council will consider the budget for adoption. The meeting will be held at 116 S. Grant St. in Downtown Roseville. If you are unable to attend, you can view the meetings live on the City's YouTube channel.

Whether you’re dealing with a pesky pothole or spotted some graffiti, getting help is now as simple as sending a text. Atlantic/Vernon Street Traffic Improvements Project update

Due to high daytime traffic volumes, night work is scheduled for this week from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Atlantic/Vernon Street s-curve will be reduced to one lane between Lincoln and Yosemite Street with flaggers directing alternating traffic.

Median work is ongoing with the s-curve southbound lane closed and detours in place during daytime hours.

Allow extra travel time and travel with care through the work area.

The next project milestone is paving work that will start on Fairway in late May then will move on to Junction. On Fairway Drive, some intersections may have traffic signals flashing red and flaggers directing traffic. If a signal is flashing red and no flaggers are present, treat the intersection as an all-way stop.

Starting Saturday, May 23, voters who want to cast their ballots for the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election in person can visit any open vote center in Placer County to obtain a poll ballot or use “Sign, Scan & Go!” and have their vote-by-mail ballot scanned as they watch. Find vote center locations and their days and hours of operation on the Placer County Elections website.

Need to register to vote, obtain a replacement ballot, or have questions about the primary? The Elections Office is ready to help! In addition to regular business hours, the office will be open during the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25, and both weekends before the election, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Call 1-800-824-8683 (VOTE), email election@placer.ca.gov, or visit in person at 3715 Atherton Road in Rocklin.

Draft environmental impact report released for Environmental Utilities operations center project

The Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) for the proposed Environmental Utilities Operations Center and Resource Recovery Transfer Operation is available for public review and comment through Monday, June 22.

As part of the environmental review process, the City of Roseville will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, May 26, to receive oral comments on the contents of the Draft EIR.

Union Pacific Siren Testing

On Wednesday, May 5, at noon, Union Pacific Railroad will be testing their emergency notification siren. Residents in the vicinity of the rail yard may hear the test siren.

Here are steps that we recommend all residents take to prepare for any emergency that might affect our region:

• Register for Placer Alert: This is an emergency notification system used by our Fire and Police departments to notify residents of emergency situations that may affect them and would be used in conjunction with the Union Pacific siren should there be an incident at the railyard where residents needed to be notified.

• Be prepared should you need to evacuate: More tips on how to be prepared can be found at www.ready.gov.

Every weekend in May, Roseville residents can bring in their used oil filter to participating AutoZone locations and receive a new FREE oil filter while supplies last. Funded in part by CalRecycle, this program makes it easy to recycle properly and keep used oil filters out of the landfill.

Atlantic/Vernon Street Traffic Improvements Project update

Median work temporarily closed the southbound lane on Vernon Street between the Atlantic and Vernon Street intersection and Lincoln Street. This closure will last through mid-May.

Jeff Beigh named Roseville's Chief of Police

City Manager Dominick Casey is pleased to announce Jeff Beigh as the next Chief of Police following a highly competitive recruitment process. Beigh (pronounced bee), previously a Roseville police captain, will serve as Roseville’s 19th police chief, succeeding Chief Troy Bergstrom who retires on April 28.

“Jeff Beigh is a proven leader with deep institutional knowledge and strong citywide support. His people-centered approach to leadership is grounded in transparency, accountability, and community-oriented policing that builds trust and fosters operational excellence,” said Casey.

As chief, Beigh will oversee a $69 million annual operating budget and the department’s 240 sworn and professional staff in serving our community.

Roseville names Jill Nunes as next Director of Parks, Recreation and Libraries

Roseville City Manager Dominick Casey has appointed Jill Nunes as the City’s next director of Parks, Recreation & Libraries following a highly competitive recruitment. Nunes will start on May 18 and will succeed Jill Geller, who retires on May 29.

"Jill brings deep industry expertise and a strong record of transparent, collaborative leadership. Her people-first approach and ability to build community partnerships will continue to enhance Roseville’s legacy of delivering award-winning parks, recreation and library experiences," said Casey.

As PRL director, Nunes will lead a department of 165 full-time and 700 part-time and seasonal employees and manage an annual operating budget of $58 million supporting a new soccer complex, 90+ parks, recreation programming, 3 libraries, 3 aquatics facilities, 21 childcare centers, 2 golf courses, Maidu Museum & Historic Site, a fitness center, senior services, cultural arts, and more than 4,000 acres of natural areas for the Roseville community.

The City of Roseville recently debuted an updated website with a new URL, roseville.ca.gov, to better serve residents, businesses, and visitors.

The website features a more modern, accessible, and transparent experience. Updates were made with public survey feedback in mind. We’re still making improvements, so please pardon our digital dust as we finalize this transition.

Voting materials arriving soon for June 2 primary

The June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election is just over a month away – are you ready to vote, Placer?

State and county voter information guides have been mailed to all eligible voters – review them closely to see offices and measures on the ballot, your voting options, drop box and vote center locations, important deadlines and much more. Voting materials will be in the mail by Monday, May 4.

Want to watch your ballot being counted? Use “Sign, Scan & Go!” at the Elections Office as early as May 4.

Roseville improves water reliability with a new water system connection

The Roseville City Council has approved an agreement with the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) to formalize the shared operation and maintenance of the Woodcreek Intertie, strengthening water reliability for both PCWA and Roseville customers and the surrounding region.

The Woodcreek Intertie is a connection between the two water systems that allows water to move in either direction when needed. This connection gives both agencies more flexibility to respond when conditions change.

Atlantic/Vernon Street Traffic Improvements Project update

Median work will temporarily close the southbound lane on Vernon Street between the Atlantic and Vernon Street intersection and Lincoln Street starting this week. This closure will last approximately three to four weeks.

Please travel with care through the work area. Allow extra travel time.

Resurfacing work set for Junction Boulevard and Fairway Drive

Following preparation work, road resurfacing is scheduled for the following areas starting late-April:

• Fairway Drive between Stanford Ranch Road and Blue Oaks Boulevard

• Junction Boulevard between Foothills and Washington Boulevard

This work protects streets and reduces the need for costly street repairs in the future.

Roseville welcomes back the Big Boy No. 4014

The world’s largest steam locomotive, Big Boy No. 4014, is rolling back into Roseville on April 10-11 as part of Union Pacific’s first-ever "coast-to-coast" steam tour.

The train will be on viewing display from 1-5 p.m., on Friday, April 10, and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., on Saturday, April 11.

Beyond the tracks, join the community at the Vernon Street Town Square for a Maker’s Market and live music.

From Interstate 80, use the Riverside Avenue or Douglas Boulevard exits for access to Downtown Roseville.

Proposed Phillip Road Site: Draft Environmental Impact Report public review period extended

The public review period for the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the proposed Phillip Road Site project has been extended by 45 days, with a new deadline of Thursday, April 30. The review period began on Tuesday, February 3.

Roseville ready to welcome back the Big Boy No. 4014

The world’s largest steam locomotive, Big Boy No. 4014, is rolling back into Roseville on April 10-11 as part of Union Pacific’s first-ever "coast-to-coast" steam tour.

The train will be on viewing display from 1-5 p.m., on Friday, April 10, and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., on Saturday, April 11.

Beyond the tracks, join the community at the Vernon Street Town Square for a Maker’s Market and live music.

Drug Take Back day is on April 25

Unused or expired medications and vaping devices aren’t just clutter — they can put your family, home, and environment at risk. Join us for Roseville’s prescription take-back event and safely dispose of them on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Sun City - Roseville: 7050 Del Webb Blvd (Across from the tennis courts)
