Bosch completes acquisition of TSI Semiconductors

Bosch recently completed its acquisition of Roseville-based TSI Semiconductors. The global manufacturer plans to invest $1.5 billion in the Roseville facility, expanding chip production for electric vehicles. Production is estimated to begin in 2026.

Bosch is retaining 250 local TSI employees and additional growth is anticipated.

The Roseville facility joins Bosch's current chip manufacturing sites in Reutlingen and Dresden, Germany.

Overnight PG&E work on Sierra College Boulevard at E. Roseville Parkway 

Northbound Sierra College Boulevard will be closed at the E. Roseville Parkway intersection for PG&E work.

Construction is scheduled to occur overnight, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. from Sunday, Sep. 10 through Friday, Sep.15.

Traffic signals to be added along Blue Oaks and Westbrook Boulevard intersections

This fall, the City of Roseville will begin work to install traffic signals at several intersections along Westbrook Boulevard and Blue Oaks Boulevard.

Road work to close portion of Baseline Road

Road work will temporarily close Baseline Road between Fiddyment Road and Watt Avenue on Sunday, Aug. 27 through Thursday, Aug. 31. The work will occur overnight, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

Road resurfacing continues

Be on the lookout for resurfacing work on Blue Oaks Boulevard and in portions of the Sun City neighborhood starting in August. Keep an eye on digital message boards for current dates and times for each area. 

Resurfacing Roseville’s trails

Starting in August, resurfacing is scheduled on Miner’s Ravine Trail, Antelope Creek Trail, and False Ravine Trail. Construction will take place 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on weekdays.

High School students uncover the hidden world of utilities

About 40 high school students participated in Roseville Utilities Field Day this spring to learn about keeping city services running and get a hands-on look at careers within utilities.

During this event, students had the opportunity to visit four utility sites encompassing various aspects of Roseville's utility infrastructure, interacting with workers responsible for power supply, waste transportation, and water and wastewater.

Washington and All America City Roundabout Project update 

All America City Boulevard is closed between Niles and Washington to expedite work on this area of the project.

Construction will continue with the existing traffic pattern on the east side of Washington Boulevard at the All America City Boulevard intersection.

Travel with care and keep an eye on digital message boards for current construction information.

Overnight Baseline Road work and lane closures 

Through Thursday, August 17, road work will partially close Baseline Road between Fiddyment Road and Westbrook Boulevard. Construction will occur 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and traffic will be reduced to a single lane.

Drive with care and be on the lookout for construction personnel who will assist you in traveling through the work zone. Please allow extra travel time.

Upcoming resurfacing and curb ramp improvements 

Road resurfacing on Blue Oaks Boulevard will continue near the end of summer and through early fall. This routine maintenance includes adding a wearing layer over the road surface.

Curb ramp improvements are ongoing in the Sun City neighborhood starting late summer, with completion in spring 2024. These updates are required by law in advance of road resurfacing. Phased resurfacing is continuing in August in Sun City and will go through the end of 2023. Another phase will occur in 2024.

Be on the lookout for digital message boards for up-to-date work dates and times.

Temporary trail closures

A portion of the trail between Foothills Boulevard and Country Club Drive is temporarily closed for PG&E work. A detour is in place until approximately September.

Sections of the Miner’s Ravine Trail will be closed for short periods throughout the day on August 10. This work is preparing the trail for a larger resurfacing project scheduled for this fall.

Roseville's water utility's upgrade from AA to AA+ by Standard & Poor's (S&P) is significant, bringing many benefits to the utility and the local community. Local non-profits receive $604,766 in City grants

Twenty-seven non-profit organizations serving Roseville residents collectively received $604,766 this summer through the City of Roseville' competitive annual grant program. 

The non-profit groups address a wide span of social needs including disability awareness, hunger, homelessness, and veterans’ needs. On July 11, the Roseville Grants Advisory Commission and representatives of the City Council presented checks to the 2023 grant recipients in a ceremony in the Roseville City Council Chambers.

Roseville Utilities has begun the full implementation phase of its meter upgrade project. This second phase of the project is expected to take 12-14 months to complete. Roseville City Council is accepting applications from citizens 18 or older residing within the City limits of Roseville interested in serving on the following boards and committees:

• Local Sales Tax Citizens' Advisory Committee (three vacancies)

Meetings are held once or twice a month. Members receive no compensation for their time, although they may attend training workshops or seminars at City expense. 

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m., Friday, July 28.

• Drink plenty of water (2-4 glasses of water every hour if you are physically active and out in direct heat).
• Wear lightweight, light colored loose fitting clothing as well as a hat and sunglasses when outdoors.
• Always apply sunscreen and limit exposure during mid-day.
• When participating in outdoor activities, do so with a buddy and pace yourself in the heat.
• Always monitor those at risk for heat related illnesses especially those on medications for heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. as they may be affected more by the heat.
• Never leave children, infants or pets inside vehicles.
• Provide pets with plenty of water and shade.

Stay Cool! Extended Hours at Downtown Library

Beat the heat with extended hours at the Downtown Library on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22. We'll be open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM both days.

Meter upgrades continue

Roseville Utilities has begun the full implementation phase of its meter upgrade project. This second phase of the project is expected to take 12-14 months to complete. The upgrade includes advanced meters, which wirelessly send readings and important service information to both our water and electric utilities.

Westfield Galleria at Roseville converts turf to water-wise landscape equal to nearly three football fields

Westfield Galleria at Roseville is leading the way in water conservation. They're removing over 150,000 square feet of turf grass (imagine almost three football fields worth!), saving 8 million gallons of water each year. This is equivalent to the water supply for 75 homes!

By participating in Roseville's Cash for Grass rebate program, they're receiving $60,000 to offset their investment in saving water. Their efforts benefit wildlife and ecosystems and set a responsible standard for water resource management, particularly as shifting weather patterns continue.

The City’s advocacy efforts are defined within the City’s Legislative and Regulatory Platform and reflect the City Council’s goals and priorities as well as its position on issues that are currently, or are anticipated to be, the focus of future legislation and regulation.

Look for monthly updates highlighting the work of the City’s Government Relations Team as it advocates for Roseville’s interest at the state and federal levels.

Unleash your creativity at our Roseville Library ultimate LEGO® Contest! All you need to do is build an original LEGO® masterpiece, whether it's a towering structure or a fun creation, right at the library or from the comfort of your home. All ages are invited to join in the fun.

Capture your masterpiece with a photo, and send it to library@roseville.ca.us along with your name and age. The top three builders from each age category (0-5, 6-12, Teen/Adult) will win prizes. Photos must be submitted by July 31, so start building.

Join the Youth Art Contest

You can help bring utilities to life by joining the Roseville Utilities Youth Art Contest - now through September 15. From electrifying superheroes to sewer pipe super villains, explore themes such as clean water delivery, sewer pipe management, energy-saving and waste collection.

Finalists will receive a $50 art supply gift card and their artwork in a 12-month calendar. Community choice winners receive a $100 gift card.

Pleasant Grove Creek Trail temporary closures

Construction is underway on Pleasant Grove Creek Trail connections. Closures and detours are in place until approximately September.

Washington and All America City Boulevard Roundabout Project update

To continue construction of the new roundabout at the intersection of Washington, Lincoln, and All America City Boulevard, a new traffic pattern has started. Traffic has switched to the east side of Washington Boulevard at the All America City Boulevard intersection. 

Travel with care in the work zone and keep an eye on digital message boards for current construction information.

Unlock endless adventures with the 2023 Summer Youth Bus Pass

There's still time. Summer Youth Bus Passes are available for purchase. Get access to summer jobs, shopping, movies, parks and other activities. Travel around with ease through August 31 for $10.

Serve your community on a board or commission

Roseville City Council is accepting applications from citizens 18 or older residing within the City limits of Roseville interested in serving on the following boards and committees:

• Board of Appeals (one vacancy)
• Local Sales Tax Citizens' Advisory Committee (three vacancies)

Meetings are held once or twice a month. Members receive no compensation for their time, although they may attend training workshops or seminars at City expense. 

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m., Friday, July 28.

Extended library hours for upcoming heat

Brace yourselves for the upcoming heat this weekend. Our Downtown Library will be extending its hours to provide a cool escape from the triple digit temperatures. Starting from Friday, July 14, through Monday, July 17, we'll be open extra hours:
10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday-Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday.

And, we're providing complimentary bottled water, ensuring you stay hydrated while enjoying the extended hours.

Roseville's Utility Exploration Center undergoes transformation

After years of educating children, customers, and the community on the value of utility services and environmental responsibility, the Roseville Utility Exploration Center (UEC) is transforming completely. The UEC, well-known for its hands-on learning experiences, events, and educational opportunities, will soon welcome visitors to an entirely new realm of exhibits and interactive displays in early 2024.

"We have a unique opportunity to breathe new life into our learning space for utility and environmental stewardship, creating an experience that will leave a lasting impact on all who visit," said Brayden Mitchell, UEC supervisor.

Upcoming resurfacing on Blue Oaks Boulevard

The preparation work to resurface a portion of Blue Oaks Boulevard has begun. Be on the lookout for digital message boards for up-to-date work dates and times. Construction is anticipated to be completed by early fall.

The first step of resurfacing will remove damaged asphalt and replace with new material. The second step will place a wearing layer over the top of the entire road surface. The road may appear patchy and uneven in between these steps. Each step occurs a couple months apart.
