Mosquito abatement scheduled for west Roseville tonight

Parts of west Roseville are scheduled for an aerial adulticide treatment tonight, according to the Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District. An EPA-registered mosquito adulticide will be applied in an ultra-low volume fog by aircraft to target adult mosquitoes between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

Washington and All America City Boulevard Roundabout Project update

On Thursday, July 6 only, crews will be performing work beginning at 6 a.m.

To continue roundabout construction, a new traffic pattern is coming the week of July 10. Traffic will be switching to the east side of Washington Boulevard.

Keep an eye on digital message boards for current construction information.

Upcoming resurfacing on Blue Oaks Blvd.

The prep work to resurface a portion of Blue Oaks Blvd. has begun. Be on the lookout for digital message boards for up-to-date work dates and times. Construction is anticipated to be complete by early fall.

The first step of resurfacing will remove damaged asphalt and replace with new material. The second step will place a wearing layer over the top of the entire road surface. The road may appear patchy and uneven in between these steps. Each step occurs a couple months apart. 

New area code overlay - what you need to know

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has approved a second area code (837), called an overlay, to the 530 region, which serves the northeastern portion of California. 

The new 837 area code overlay will ensure that telephone numbers continue to be available to meet the demand in the geographic region served by the 530 area code while minimizing customer inconvenience. Existing 530/837 customers will retain their area code and specific telephone number(s).

Fireworks safety tips

As you celebrate this Fourth of July holiday, please take note of important safety tips regarding the use of fireworks. Only those fireworks registered with the California State Fire Marshal's Office as Safe and Sane are approved for use within the State of California. Remember, any firework that flies in the air, darts across the ground or explodes is considered illegal in California. 

The legal time for discharge of Safe and Sane fireworks is from 12 p.m. on June 28 through 11:59 p.m. on July 4.

City Council adopts Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget supporting infrastructure and maintaining services

Roseville’s Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget of $784 million was adopted by City Council at its June 21 meeting.

The General Fund operating budget is $214 million while the remaining $570 million in funding is primarily dedicated to the electric, water, wastewater, and waste services utilities.

Capital improvements enhance the Roseville community

Road resurfacing, Roseville Soccer Complex, and utility system improvements are among scores of infrastructure and improvement projects included in the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget approved by the Roseville City Council at its June 21 meeting.

The combined capital improvement program budget is just over $130 million, consisting of 87 projects. 

Roseville continues water conservation as snowpack and reservoirs thrive

With plenty of water in our reservoirs thanks to the winter rains and snowpack, Roseville is moving from a drought stage to a basic water conservation stage.

"Even though the drought is over for now, we still want our customers to use water efficiently, given the changing water supply conditions we’ve experienced over the years," said water utility manager George Hanson.

Here are some simple steps you can take to make a difference:

• Maintain a three-day-a-week watering schedule
• Replace older sprinklers with high-efficiency rotary nozzles
• Check for indoor leaks
• Take advantage of rebates for upgraded toilets and water-wise landscaping

Roseville hotel converts into permanent supportive housing

The former Hampton Inn & Suites Roseville on Sunrise Avenue and Douglas Boulevard is being converted into Sun Rose Apartments for permanent supportive housing by the nonprofit AMI Housing.

Roseville and Placer County Water Agency strengthen regional water supply reliability

The Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) and the City of Roseville signed a new agreement last month to ensure water is available to serve the needs of existing and growing communities. 

“With our partnership with PCWA and our agreement with the US Bureau of Reclamation for federally supplied drinking water, we can make sure our residents and businesses have the water they need," said Roseville Mayor Bruce Houdesheldt.

The new contract makes it easier to deliver water between PCWA and Roseville, an important step in meeting the increasing need and taking care of the water resources in our region.

Your input in two short surveys will help determine the best ways for all California residents and businesses to have access to high quality and affordable internet service, devices, skills training and digital support.

For Roseville, your survey answers will help the city receive part of $2 billion in grants to connect improve high-speed broadband services in our city. 

Take the State’s Digital Equity Survey and Placer County’s 2023 Internet Service Survey. Both surveys close June 30.

Flashing yellow arrow signals help keep traffic moving

No more waiting at a red light to turn left when it's clear to go. To assist drivers, traffic signals with flashing yellow left turn arrows will be installed at the following intersections:

• Northbound Fiddyment Road at Hayden Parkway is anticipated to be completed by July
• PFE Road at Hilltop Circle is expected to be complete the week of June 26

These intersections are proven to be more efficient and reduce unnecessary vehicle idling. When the yellow arrow flashes, cautiously enter the intersection to make your turn after yielding to oncoming traffic and bicyclists.

Sun City resurfacing is anticipated to begin in summer and continue through the end of 2023. Work hours are 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Inspiration Garden celebrates first anniversary

A year has flown by since the City of Roseville’s Inspiration Garden first sprouted. As a hands-on learning center, its mission is to educate the public about the benefits and practicalities of creating environmentally friendly and water-efficient gardens. In partnership with the City, Consolidated Communications recently completed a project that expands and enhances the online experience throughout the downtown area. The upgraded service will provide excellent connectivity while on Vernon Street, from Folsom Rd. to Taylor Rd. 

“The improved WiFi service will make Downtown Roseville an even more welcoming place to visit and do business,” said Melissa Anguiano, City of Roseville Economic Development Director.

Working diligently behind the scenes of your water utility is a team of plant operators, lab technicians, distribution workers, and customer service staff.

Their collective efforts aim to ensure your drinking water's safety, cleanliness, and sustainability. And, we are pleased to announce that all water supplied by Roseville in 2022 not only met but surpassed the regulatory standards established by both state and federal governments.

Draft FY2023-24 Budget released, public workshop set for May 30

The City’s draft Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget of $784 million is available for public review.  The General Fund operating budget is $214 million while the remaining $570 million in funding is primarily dedicated to the electric, water, wastewater, and waste services utilities.

The General Fund budget includes funding for public safety, Parks, Recreation & Libraries, public works, information technology and general government functions.

Attend the second public meeting and learn more about potential risks in our area, steps the City is taking, and what you can do to be more prepared and educated. You'll also have an opportunity to share your input and ask questions.

Inspiration Garden celebrates first anniversary

A year has flown by since the City of Roseville’s Inspiration Garden first sprouted. As a hands-on learning center, its mission is to educate the public about the benefits and practicalities of creating environmentally friendly and water-efficient gardens. Come visit the garden to find new ideas, attend a workshop, and gain tips and resources for water-efficient landscapes. 

Indoor pool temporary closure

The Mike Shellito Indoor Pool (MSIP) will be closed starting May 30 for approximately 12 weeks while both pools are being re-plastered.

We have timed the closure so our two other pools will be available for summer swimming, fitness and lap swim. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Resurfacing work set to resume on Roseville streets

The City of Roseville is resuming resurfacing 65 miles of streets within the city, continuing the work that started last year. Construction is anticipated to begin in June and be completed by late summer.

Global semiconductor manufacturer Bosch planning to buy Roseville company, invest $1.5 billion locally

Global semiconductor manufacturer Bosch plans to acquire assets of the U.S. chipmaker TSI Semiconductors (TSI), based in Roseville and expand its semiconductor business with silicon carbide chips. Over the next years, Bosch intends to invest more than $1.5 billion in the Roseville site and convert the TSI Semiconductors manufacturing facilities to state-of-the-art processes.

We're a community of choice for investment, with an environment that fuels business growth, a skilled and educated workforce, vibrant quality of life, and some of the nation’s most reliable and low-cost municipal utilities. Roseville checks all the boxes," says City of Roseville Mayor Bruce Houdesheldt.
