Road work will close portion of Atlantic Street

Road work will temporarily close a portion of Atlantic Street at the southbound right-turn from the Vernon and Atlantic Street intersection. The closure will last approximately two weeks starting mid-January. Work will occur in the daytime on weekdays.

Please use an alternate route or follow detour signs. Allow extra travel time.

Candidate filing for June 2026 primary opens Feb. 9

The Placer County Elections Office would like to remind those intending to run for elected office during the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election that they can access candidate filing services at the Placer County Elections Office (3715 Atherton Road in Rocklin) starting Monday, Feb. 9 at 8 a.m.

To schedule a time to file your candidacy paperwork, visit the Placer County Elections website or contact the Candidate Services team at 1-800-824-8683 .

Work underway on Atlantic and Vernon Street S-curve to improve traffic

Work is underway on the Atlantic and Vernon Street S-curve, between Lincoln and Yosemite Street. Expect to see traffic lanes shift and construction-related traffic in the area. Please travel with care in the work zone.

Project updates include adding lighted pedestrian crossings to enhance safety, reducing lanes to slow vehicle speeds, installing green bike lanes for better visibility, and constructing landscaped medians. In addition, left-hand turning restrictions onto Atlantic Street will be added to smaller intersections to help reduce collisions.

Curbside Leaf Pickup continues through mid-January

Neighbors helping neighbors through a water-wise food drive

Thanks to the generosity of our community, this year’s water-wise food drive was an incredible success. Residents donated more than 13,000 pounds of non-perishable food, surpassing the total collected over the previous two years combined.

Every donation helped support the Roseville St. Vincent de Paul Society and provided meaningful relief to local families facing food insecurity.

Holiday hours

Most Roseville City offices are closed from Thursday, December 25, through Thursday, January 1, 2026. The City remains staffed to provide safety and emergency services. 

Refuse service follows its regular daily pick-up schedule. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, Roseville Transit operates limited Commuter service. Local, Arrow, and ADA Paratransit services will operate normally. No Roseville Transit services on Christmas or New Year’s Day. City offices will reopen on January 2, 2026.

West Park cardboard recycling station temporarily closed

The cardboard recycling station at 4475 West Park Dr. will be closed to the public until Friday, Dec. 19, while crews complete needed repairs and upgrades to improve overall safety and usability of the site. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and use one of the other cardboard drop-off locations available throughout the city during this temporary closure, especially as recycling volumes tend to increase this time of year.

Water-wise tips for the holiday season

Join us this week in Vernon Street Town Square for the Downtown Holiday Celebration. Three festive nights, plenty of holiday cheer and fun for all ages!

• Tree Grove — Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 6–7:30 p.m.
  Stroll through a glowing grove of trees and kick off the season together. Free.

• Christmas Tree Lighting — Thursday, Dec. 4, from 6–8 p.m.
  Gather for crafts, community, and the big moment when the tree lights up at 6:10 p.m. Free.

• North Pole Tavern — Friday, Dec. 5, from 6–8 p.m.

Toys for Tots donation locations

Give a child the gift of joy this holiday season by donating new, unwrapped toys for those in need during Toys for Tots.

Donations are needed for kids of all ages and will be distributed by local nonprofit organizations to those in need. In order to have time to distribute the toys, we kindly ask for donations by Friday, Dec. 12, however, donations will be accepted through Christmas.

Write a Letter to the Sky

Letters to the Sky is coming to Royer Pedestrian Bridge! Pick up waterproof paper at any Roseville library location and write a message from your heart in one of four themes: Remembrance, Gratitude, Wishes, or “What I Would Tell You If I Could.”

Notes will be hung along the illuminated bridge from Friday, Dec. 12, to Friday, Jan. 2. Return your letter to any library by Friday, Dec. 5.

Work planned for Atlantic and Vernon Street S-curve project to improve traffic 

Work on the Atlantic and Vernon Street S-curve, between Lincoln and Yosemite Street, is expected to start this winter to improve traffic flow and safety.

Project updates include adding lighted pedestrian crossings to enhance safety, reducing lanes to slow vehicle speeds, installing green bike lanes for better visibility, and constructing landscaped medians. In addition, left turns will be limited at smaller intersections to help reduce collisions.

Refuse service follows its regular daily pick-up schedule. The City remains staffed to provide safety and emergency services.

A smarter way to recycle: Improving cardboard collection

Recycling cardboard just got easier. Roseville Environmental Utilities recently replaced 12 old recycling containers with 75 new and more efficient front loader bins at six recycling sites, thanks to a CalRecycle grant from the State of California.

These new dedicated cardboards bins lead to improved customer service, greater efficiency, reduced contamination, and fewer truck trips. Smart investments like this show how targeted upgrades can make recycling easier, safer, and more sustainable for our community.

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, at noon, Union Pacific Railroad will test its emergency notification siren. Residents in the vicinity of the rail yard may hear the test siren.

It will also include a donation collection supporting active-duty service members through the end of the month. Applications are open for several commissions and committees, including: Local Citizens' Sales Tax and Oversight Committee, Planning Commission, Public Utilities Commission, and Senior Commission. Applications for any of these vacancies are due by Friday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m.

Calling all high school leaders: several youth commission openings are also available. Make your voice heard on any of the following boards: Library Board, Grants Advisory Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, and Transportation Commission. Youth commission applications are due by Thursday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.

Temporary relocation of City Council and Board/Commission meetings

Lane closures on Fairway Drive

There will be lane closures on Fairway Drive between Central Park Drive and Stanford Ranch Road, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday starting mid-October. This is preparation work in advance of road resurfacing scheduled for early 2026. Work on Junction Boulevard between Foothills and Washington Boulevard has been suspended until spring 2026.

Because of temperature-sensitive materials, prep work will occur during the daytime hours when temperatures are warmer.

Please allow extra travel time or consider an alternate route. Work schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen conditions

Overnight closure for a portion of Baseline Road

Ongoing overnight road work is temporarily closing Baseline Road between Fiddyment Road and Market Street intermittently, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through November. Keep an eye on digital message boards in the area for current closure schedules. Please use the detour and allow extra travel time. Signals will be flashing red, please treat the intersections as all-way stops. Construction schedules are subject to change.

When a water main recently broke late at night in a Roseville neighborhood, most people never even knew it happened. Splash, play and pick your pumpkin this Sunday

Celebrate the season with a splash at the Floating Pumpkin Patch this Sunday, Oct. 19, at the Mike Shellito Indoor Pool. Kids can hop in the pool to choose their perfect pumpkin and enjoy a day filled with swimming, games, bounce houses and festive fall crafts.

Schedule:

• Sensory-Friendly Session: 9-10 a.m.

• Main Sessions: 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m.

Advance registration is required for all participants, including non-swimmers.

Drug Take Back day is on Oct. 25

Got questions about Roseville’s water? We’ve got answers. Environmental Utilities is hosting a live, virtual Q&A on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 7 p.m. – and you’re invited.
Residents can also submit their questions in advance when they RSVP to make sure they’re addressed during the discussion.

Teamwork saves $1.6 million on major wastewater project

This summer, Environmental Utilities staff took on one of the most challenging projects at the Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and delivered impressive results while saving the community upwards of $1.6 million.

Crews built a temporary system powerful enough to move more than 80 million gallons of wastewater -- all to keep things flowing while repairs were made to an underground pipe.

Temporary relocation of City Council and Board/Commission meetings

The City Council and Board/Commission meetings will be temporarily relocated due to the expansion of the City Council Chambers starting Oct. 21 through mid-2026.

Statewide Special Elections 2025

The Placer County Elections Office wants all eligible voters to make their voice heard in the Nov. 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election.

Visit any of the 17 regional vote centers in the county to vote in person, opening as early as Oct. 25. Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned in person, by mail, or by using one of 20 official drop boxes. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 4 and received by Nov. 12 to be counted.

Want to scan your ballot and watch it counted? Use “Sign, Scan & GO!” Bring your voted vote-by-mail ballot to any open Placer County vote center, sign in, scan your ballot and GO!

Applications are open for several Commissions

Applications are open for several commissions and committees, including: Local Citizens' Sales Tax and Oversight Committee, Planning Commission, Public Utilities Commission, and Senior Commission. Applications for any of these vacancies are due by Friday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m.

Calling all high school leaders: several youth commission openings are also available. Make your voice heard on any of the following boards: Library Board, Grants Advisory Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, and Transportation Commission. Youth commission applications are due by Thursday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.

Overnight closure for a portion of Baseline Road

Ongoing overnight road work is temporarily closing Baseline Road between Fiddyment Road and Market Street nightly, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday morning, Oct. 9. Please use the detour and allow extra travel time. Signals will be flashing red, please treat the intersections as all-way stops. Construction schedules are subject to change.
