Get ready for a festive 4th of July! Whether you’re kicking off the morning with the fun run and parade or ending the night with fireworks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Here’s what’s happening:

• Run Crime Out of Roseville 5K | 7:15 am – Downtown Roseville
• Parade | 9 a.m. - Start the day at the downtown Roseville parade.
• Royer Park Activities | After the Parade - Head to Royer Park for live music, food vendors, games and kids’ activities.
• Fireworks Show | 9:15 p.m. - End the night with a spectacular fireworks show @the Grounds.

Parade parking & road closures - Please plan ahead—some downtown roads will close early for the parade, and parking may be limited. Arrive early and use available public parking lots.

Penalties for illegal fireworks

Illegal fireworks carry many risks, including injury, property damage, safety of first responders, costs of responding to emergencies, environmental harm and legal consequences.

In May 2024, the Roseville City Council amended the municipal code, making penalties for those who use illegal fireworks much more severe.

Penalties for illegal fireworks include stiffer fines, more severe legal consequences, liability for the cost of emergency response and additional responsibility of property owners who knowingly allow the use or storage of illegal fireworks on their property, or the street or sidewalk adjacent to their property.

Downtown Library extends summer hours

From July 1 through September 1, the Downtown Roseville Library will have extended hours, giving you more time to cool off and enjoy the air conditioning and free bottled water. With more evening and weekend hours, it’s easier than ever to stop by and check out books, attend programs, or use library resources.

Your vision, our trucks: 2025 Youth Art Contest

The 2025 Roseville Utilities Youth Art Contest is officially rolling, and we want to see your take on the mighty utility trucks that help keep Roseville clean, safe, and running smoothly.

This year’s theme is “Roseville utility trucks in action,” and we’re inviting artists 17 and under to show off their creativity. Whether it’s trash collection, water line repairs, or restoring power, these trucks play a big role in our everyday lives, and now it’s their time to shine. Entries are open now through August 6.

Help name Roseville's newest parks

We’re inviting the community to suggest names for four upcoming neighborhood parks. Each park is uniquely designed with features like play areas, shaded picnic spaces, trails, turfgrass and more.

• CO-61 (Campus Oaks): 6 acres at Ashbrook St. & Knightsbridge Ln.
• JM-51 (Sierra Vista): 2.6 acres at Shimmer Falls Dr. & Lakehaven Dr.
• JM-52 (Sierra Vista): 1.5 acres at Misty Ridge Dr. & Bright Star Rd.
• FD-50 (Sierra Vista): 1.7 acres at Starfield Dr. & Nova Pl.

Roseville Transit launches Commuter schedule improvements July 21

Roseville Transit’s second phase of Commuter improvements will go into effect July 21 following the Transportation 360 master plan adoption in February and a recently completed rider survey. This includes schedule modifications and four new routes.

Utility work to close trail between Royer and Saugstad Parks

The trail connecting Royer Park and Saugstad Park will be closed for several weeks starting in late June due to Roseville Environmental Utilities work.

Trail users can exit ahead of the closure by using the pedestrian bridge connecting to Taylor Street to continue southbound. To continue northbound, exit at the Saugstad park-and-ride lot.

Power Flex Energy-Saving Program

Roseville Electric Utility is excited to introduce Power Flex, our new energy-saving program. Customers who elect to participate in Power Flex can save money and help support electric grid resiliency. Participants help reduce electricity demand during peak times, often without even noticing.

Here’s how it works:

• Enroll your eligible smart thermostat
• During high-demand periods Roseville Electric may make small, temporary adjustments to temperature settings
• $25 bill credit just for signing up; and another $25 each year you stay enrolled

Spots are limited and this program is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t miss your chance to make a difference and save some money!

Every year, we test according to federal and state regulations to ensure that the water coming out of your tap is clean and reliable. We’re proud to say that the 2024 data confirms we're not just compliant, but also consistent.

Roseville Rising: Calling all culinary entrepreneurs Are you a culinary entrepreneur? Get ready for the next cohort of Roseville Rising at the Roseville Venture Lab. Apply to participate and gain essential business skills to help grow your food venture locally. The program runs July 15 – September 23. Submit your application by Monday, July 7.

Zoning allows for mixed‐use, retail, restaurant, public or quasi‐public, office, multifamily residential, live/workspace, public market, or other concepts that add to downtown’s energy.

Roseville named Best City to Retire in California

The Journal of Retirement Research recently named Roseville as the Best City to Retire in California. The appeal of affordable housing, a low poverty rate, and a strong senior community (nearly 19% of the population are seniors) makes Roseville an ideal place to settle down during retirement years.

4th of July: Be part of the celebration

Celebrate Independence Day with a full day of fun. The 4th of July parade kicks off in Downtown Roseville at 9 a.m. After the parade, enjoy live music, kids’ activities and family fun at Royer Park. End the day with a spectacular fireworks show at @the Grounds starting at 9:15 p.m.

Sewer upgrade brings long-term reliability

If you’ve driven down Church Street lately, you may have noticed crews hard at work between Atkinson Street and Ivy Street. We’re in the middle of a critical sewer upgrade that will help ensure our wastewater system stays reliable and efficient for years to come.

Work is taking place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will continue through the end of July. Temporary traffic impacts and detours are in place. Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work.

Roseville’s Miner's Ravine Trail designated a National Recreation Trail by U.S. Department of the Interior

The City of Roseville’s Miner’s Ravine Trail has been officially designated as a National Recreation Trail by the U.S. Department of the Interior. The announcement was made on National Trails Day, as part of a nationwide recognition of five trails across the United States.

Spanning 6.36 miles, the Miner’s Ravine Trail winds through scenic open space, preserved riparian corridors, and residential neighborhoods. It offers an accessible way for residents and visitors to connect with nature, exercise, or commute by foot or bicycle. The trail serves as both a recreational and transportation corridor for the community.

Roseville Housing Authority earns federal recognition for veterans housing efforts

The Roseville Housing Authority (RHA) received the 2025 Excellent Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC) Partnership Award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

RHA earned the award for its determination in helping homeless veterans find permanent homes under the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program. Through collaborations with HUD and VAMC and robust efforts in expanding landlord participation, RHA has leased 85 of its 100 VASH vouchers, with the remaining 15 recently issued to veterans who are searching for suitable housing.

Penalties for illegal fireworks

Illegal fireworks carry many risks, including injury, property damage, safety of first responders, costs of responding to emergencies, environmental harm and legal consequences.

In May 2024, the Roseville City Council amended the municipal code, making penalties for those who use illegal fireworks much more severe.

Penalties for illegal fireworks include stiffer fines, more severe legal consequences, liability for the cost of emergency response and additional responsibility of property owners who knowingly allow the use or storage of illegal fireworks on their property, or the street or sidewalk adjacent to their property.

Sign up for Placer Alert

Placer Alert is a free service, provided by the City of Roseville and participating agencies, to alert residents about emergency events and important public safety information. Placer Alert enables all public safety agencies in Placer County to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, missing persons, and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods. Call and text messaging charges may apply, depending on your cellular provider and plan.

With over 51 miles of trails in Roseville, it's easy to find a great route. But be sure to check for temporary closures before heading out.

Downtown area street closures

Street closures are scheduled in Downtown Roseville to support local events. Avoid delays by checking the closure schedule.

Sewer upgrade brings long-term reliability

If you’ve driven down Church Street lately, you may have noticed crews hard at work between Atkinson Street and Ivy Street. We’re in the middle of a critical sewer upgrade that will help ensure our wastewater system stays reliable and efficient for years to come.

Proposed FY2025-26 Budget released; public workshop set for May 28

The City of Roseville is pleased to present the Fiscal Year 2025-26 proposed budget for public review. This expenditure budget totals $827 million, with $236 million allocated to the General Fund operating budget and $591 million dedicated to utilities (electric, water, wastewater, and waste services) and special districts. Revenues citywide total $810 million.

We invite you to participate in upcoming budget hearings on Wednesday, May 28 at 4 p.m. and during the City Council's consideration for budget adoption on Wednesday, June 18 at 6 p.m. Meetings will be held at the City Council Chambers, 311 Vernon St. in Downtown Roseville. Water Safety POOLooza this Saturday

Water Safety POOLooza is a fun, new event bringing water safety awareness to the Roseville community. There will be intermittent lane closures on Pleasant Grove Boulevard between Foothills Boulevard and Woodcreek Oaks Boulevard due to construction work on the following days:

• Night work from Thursday, May 29, through Friday, May 30, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Honoring National Police Week

Roseville Police Department honors and recognizes the sacrifices police officers have made for others and their community. Every year, hundreds of police officers gather in Washington, D.C., to attend commemorative events and vigils to honor fellow officers.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Roseville Police Officer Mark White’s ultimate sacrifice when he was fatally shot on February 10, 1995 in the lobby of the previous Police Department headquarters.

This week, Chief Bergstrom and a few members of the Roseville PD will accompany Mike's family on a visit to Washington, D.C., where they will remember and recognize the sacrifices that Mike and other fellow police officers have made to protect and serve others.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and open communication, we are pleased to share with you the latest edition of the City Manager’s Quarterly Report. This report provides a snapshot of the City’s progress, accomplishments, and key initiatives from the third quarter of the fiscal year, Jan. – March 2025.

In this report, you will find updates on a range of projects and programs that are listed under the City Council priority they support. Many of the items have direct links to more information available on our website.

We are committed to being responsible stewards of public funds while delivering exceptional City services.

Serve your community on a board or commission

Roseville City Council is accepting applications from citizens 18 or older residing within the City limits of Roseville interested in serving on the following:

• Design Committee (one vacancy)
• Economic Development Advisory Committee (three vacancies)*
• Grants Advisory Commission (two vacancies)
• Local Sales Tax Citizens' Oversight Committee (two vacancies)
• Planning Commission (two vacancies)
• Public Utilities Commission (three vacancies)

These commissions meet once a month and serve as advisory bodies to the City council. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 23 at 4 p.m.

May is National Electrical Safety Month!

This month, help us raise awareness about electrical safety practices and ways to reduce electric-related accidents and injuries.

At Roseville Electric, safety is a core value that drives every aspect of our operations. Through daily practices, continuous training, and a culture of accountability, we work to ensure all employees perform their duties safely and confidently.

Here are a few simple electrical safety tips you can practice at home:

• Don’t overwhelm your outlets – limit them to one heat-producing appliance and use smart plugs.
• Always call before you dig - calling 811 before you start any digging projects can help ensure your safety and prevent potential repair expenses.
• Keep your party balloons tightly tethered - metallic (mylar) balloons that accidentally float into power lines can cause power outages or worse.

Got burning garden questions? Need advice on pests, soil, pruning, or landscape design—all in one place? Let’s gab at the Inspiration Garden!

Drop in (no registration needed!) and ask an expert on everything from soil and trees to irrigation and water-wise plants. A range of local gardening pros from City of Roseville’s Water Efficiency team to Placer County Master Gardeners are ready to answer all of your inquiries.

Get ready for Mulch Mayhem

Looking to save water and keep your garden thriving this summer? Mulch Mayhem is back! Roseville water customers can pick up free mulch on Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to noon at 9000 Foothills Blvd. (entrance at 9100 Foothills).

Spray grounds are open!

Get outside and cool down at one of our spray grounds. Come out to Vernon Street Town Square or Harry Crabb Park which are now open on weekends. Starting Memorial Day, they will be open daily—through Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Blaster Blitz is back

Get ready to dodge, dive and dominate at Blaster Blitz —the ultimate foam dart showdown - on June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Mahany All Weather Field! From high-energy battles to live music, food and fun, you don’t want to miss this action-packed day.

Leadership Program for teens – application deadline

The deadline to apply for the Leadership Development Program is Friday, May 9! This is a great opportunity for teens ages 13 and up to gain real-world job experience and leadership training. Teens receive a program t-shirt and up to 50 hours helping with summer camps and programs.

Roseville Rising: Calling all culinary entrepreneurs Are you ready to turn your passion for food into a thriving business? Kickstart your culinary concept and apply for Roseville Rising. Join us for a 10-week Roseville Venture Lab program tailored for aspiring food entrepreneurs. You'll learn how to hone your business strategy and accelerate your growth. Apply by Friday, May 23.

Pleasant Grove Boulevard Widening Project update

Overnight lane closures are scheduled 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Pleasant Grove Boulevard between Foothills Boulevard and Galilee Road through Friday, May 9. Traffic signals will be flashing red from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the Foothills Boulevard intersection and there will be traffic control in place. Treat the intersection as an all-way stop.

Please travel with care in the work zone.

Summer fun starts here - join SPARKS Camp

Have the best summer ever in your neighborhood SPARKS program. Designed for kids ages 6-12, each week brings a new theme filled with games, crafts, sports and field trips. Plus, enjoy a water day and a pool day every week!

Camp runs Monday–Friday, 1 to 5 p.m., starting June 9 at Kaseberg Park. You are welcome to sign up for one week of activities, or all eight exciting weeks.

Pleasant Grove Boulevard Widening Project update

Phillip Road Site project update

On April 16, Panattoni Development submitted revised plans for the proposed Phillip Road Site project.

The project is in the early stages of the public process, and the City of Roseville is currently performing technical reviews of the developer's application. The submitted exhibits are subject to change. No action has been taken by the City, including by the City Council, on the revised application.

Watch for more information in summer 2025 as the environmental study begins.

Green Gardener workshop series helps local gardeners thrive in California’s climate

The Green Gardener at Home series has just wrapped up its latest round of workshops, empowering 35 participants with the knowledge and tools to manage their landscapes effectively. These individuals are now equipped to create thriving gardens that flourish and use water efficiently.

Now in its 13th year, the series continues to provide valuable, hands-on education for local gardeners in partnership with the City of Roseville’s Utility Exploration Center and the Environmental Utilities Water Efficiency Group.

Roseville Electric rebates for e-bikes

With Roseville’s 32nd annual BikeFest family bike safety event right around the corner, now is the perfect time to take advantage of Roseville Electric's e-bike rebate program!

Our residential customers' rebate amounts range from $100-$300, depending on the cost of the e-bike, and our income-qualified customers are eligible for higher rebate amounts of $200-$600. The e-bike must meet program requirements with a limit of one rebate per Roseville Electric account.

Roseville Transit launching Commuter changes to improve service and efficiency

Starting Monday, April 21, Roseville Transit is launching Commuter service improvements as part of the first phase of changes following the Transportation 360 master plan adoption.

There will be new service from park and ride locations in Roseville and expanded service in downtown Sacramento to the May Lee State Office Complex.

Junior Police Academy application closing

Is your kid curious about what the day-to-day life at Roseville Police Department looks like? Share this opportunity with them!

All kids ages 11-14 are welcome to apply for our upcoming Roseville Junior Police Academy (JPA). This five-day program gives young participants a hands-on introduction to law enforcement and the life of a police officer. 

JPA will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 23-27 at the Roseville Police Department, with occasional activity travel arranged by RPD. To apply, submit an online application, a one-page essay describing why you want to attend JPA, and a letter of recommendation from your teacher, principal, coach, or leader in your kid’s life.

Applications open for the Roseville Police Citizens Academy

Sign up today to experience the Roseville Police Department Citizens Academy! During this academy, you will learn forensics basics, ride along with an officer, get to know our various divisions, learn how we work with other City departments, and more!

Dates: May 19-22 and May 26-29
Time: 6-9 p.m.

Attendees are required to attend all eight sessions of the program in order to attend graduation.

Join Mayor Krista Bernasconi in making a splash for water conservation this month

Roseville Mayor Krista Bernasconi is challenging residents to dive into water conservation this month! She's inviting everyone to participate in the Wyland Foundation’s National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation—a friendly nationwide competition where cities pledge to save water, cut pollution, and conserve energy.

Participation is easy—residents can make simple pledges at mywaterpledge.com. Cities with the highest participation could win fantastic prizes, including covering their utility bills for an entire year (up to $3,000)! Plus, they could score eco-friendly home upgrades, gift cards, reusable goodies, and even sustainable eyewear for local schools.

Calling all kids ages 11-14 to join our Roseville Junior Police Academy (JPA)! This academy is an engaging five-day program designed to give young participants a hands-on introduction to law enforcement and the life of a police officer. 

JPA will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 23-27. To apply, please submit an online application, a one-page essay describing why you want to attend JPA, and a letter of recommendation from your teacher, principal, coach, or leader in your life.

Applications close at 5 p.m. on April 18. The cost to attend the camp is $350 – no payment will be due until selected to participate.

Roseville Electric rebates for e-bikes

With Roseville’s 32nd annual BikeFest family bike safety event right around the corner, now is the perfect time to take advantage of Roseville Electric's e-bike rebate program!

Our residential customers' rebate amounts range from $100-$300, depending on the cost of the e-bike, and our income-qualified customers are eligible for higher rebate amounts of $200-$600. The e-bike must meet program requirements with a limit of one rebate per Roseville Electric account.

Join Mayor Krista Bernasconi in making a splash for water conservation this month

Roseville Mayor Krista Bernasconi is challenging residents to dive into water conservation this month! She's inviting everyone to participate in the Wyland Foundation’s National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation—a friendly nationwide competition where cities pledge to save water, cut pollution, and conserve energy.

Participation is easy—residents can make simple pledges at mywaterpledge.com. Cities with the highest participation could win fantastic prizes, including covering their utility bills for an entire year (up to $3,000)! Plus, they could score eco-friendly home upgrades, gift cards, reusable goodies, and even sustainable eyewear for local schools.

Grow your garden know-how at the Garden Faire

Want gardening tips but can’t commit to a workshop? The Garden Faire is your solution! This free, family-friendly event features master gardeners, landscape professionals, and utility experts sharing top tips for a thriving, water-wise yard.

Enjoy interactive booths, hands-on demonstrations, and expert advice on drought-friendly plants, composting, smart irrigation, and more. Kids will love the fun activities, too.

Proposed rate adjustments to maintain reliable services

Environmental Utilities is proposing a rate adjustment for water, wastewater (sewer), and waste services (trash and recycling), effective July 1, 2025. These changes reflect rising costs driven by inflation, as well as critical material expenses, labor, insurance, and essential infrastructure projects aimed at ensuring service reliability and safety.

Residents are invited to learn more and ask questions at upcoming public listening sessions:

Happening this week: 2025 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo

The City of Roseville is proud to announce that we have been selected to host the 2025 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo right here in Roseville. Join us this Saturday, March 29, @theGrounds for this free community event!

Lineworkers from public power utilities across the nation attend this epic event every year and compete in a series of contests designed to test their technical skills, safety practices, and teamwork. @the Grounds will be transformed into a hub of energy and excitement, with activities and exhibits for all ages - attendees can enjoy the family funfair (complete with bounce houses, petting zoo, train rides, and more), food vendors, and locally sponsored exhibits.

Admission is free, and everyone is encouraged to attend to cheer on the participants and celebrate public power.

30 years of flood preparedness in Roseville

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the historic 1995 flood that damaged 358 structures in Roseville. Most of the buildings that flooded were in neighborhoods built before floodplains were as well understood as they are today.

Starting in April, the time for Museum Mornings at the Maidu Museum & Historic Site is changing! Join us every 2nd & 4th Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. for a delightful storytime adventure designed for children ages 0-5.

Each session features stories that celebrate indigenous voices or the beauty of nature, followed by a hands-on craft or activity. Parent participation is required, and your admission includes free entry to explore the museum after each session.

Westbrook Boulevard traffic signals to be activated

New traffic signals along Westbrook Boulevard and Brookstone Drive are anticipated to be operational beginning this week, weather permitting. The signals are part of the roadway improvements that accompany the construction of the Placer Valley Soccer Complex.
