City monitors public safety; make sure you get trusted and verified information

Though our city has not experienced unrest, public safety personnel have been closely monitoring the events of the past few days throughout the region.

We will continue to ensure people’s constitutionally protected rights to peacefully demonstrate.

We’re aware there may be opportunistic individuals who take advantage of a situation to commit criminal activity, and we’re prepared to respond.

Out of an abundance of caution, our police department has taken proactive and preventative measures, including enhancing patrol staffing throughout our city.

We’re aware of several reports of misinformation on social media. For trusted and verified information follow:

Please use caution when distributing or sharing unverified rumors you see online.

Board of Supervisors requests to move into Stage 3

Pointing to Placer County’s success at flattening the COVID-19 curve and the proactive efforts of the local business community to prepare for safely reopening, the county Board of Supervisors last week unanimously approved a resolution to request permission from the state to move into Stage 3 of California’s reopening roadmap.

On May 12, Placer County became one of the first counties in the state to receive a variance to move more quickly than the state through Stage 2. The May 26 resolution follows a similar proposal approved by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors on May 19.

In addition, the Placer County Board of Supervisors approved a study of Placer’s local COVID-19 infection rate to move forward. The seroprevalence study would investigate how many residents have been infected with COVID-19 by testing for antibodies in a representative pool of volunteer residents, which could provide better insight into the county’s overall COVID-19 infection and mortality rates.

July 4 2020

4th of July is going to look a little different this year without the parade through the downtown, festivities in Royer Park or the fireworks show at the fairgrounds. BUT, but don't forget to complete your free virtual parade entry this week so we can still celebrate together.
