Scam alert: Local government impersonation scam spreading nationwide

The FBI and Center for Internet Security’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Team are warning communities about a new scam where criminals pose as county or city planning departments, zoning officials, and other local government agencies.

Victims report receiving emails claiming that their planning permit, zoning application, or similar document is “under review.” The scam email then directs them to pay a fee through a fraudulent online portal or by wire transfer.

Roseville Parkway Widening Project: Phase 1 construction underway

The first phase of the two-phase Roseville Parkway Widening Project, between Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Creekside Ridge Drive, is underway. The project is designed to improve traffic flow in one of Roseville’s busiest retail and dining corridors.

More parking coming to Historic Old Town

Construction will begin this fall on a new parking lot that will add 127 spaces in Historic Old Town Roseville. The project also includes a pedestrian connection between Lincoln Street and the new lot, providing more direct access to nearby businesses.

Comedy Night is back

Comedy takes center stage at the Roseville Theatre when SNL alum Finesse Mitchell performs on Friday, Sept. 25. Known for his stand-up specials and appearances on The Tonight Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers and more, Finesse brings his comedy to Downtown Roseville for one night only. Limited VIP tickets are available.

Serve your community as a Youth Commissioner

The Roseville City Council is accepting applications from high school students residing within the city limits of Roseville interested in serving as youth commissioners. Current youth vacancies include:

• Grants Advisory Commission (one vacancy)

• Parks, Recreation & Libraries Commission (one vacancy)

• Transportation Commission (one vacancy)

The commissions meet approximately once a month and serve as advisory bodies to the City Council. The term of office runs from Jan. 1, 2027 to Dec. 31, 2027.

Submit your application to the City Clerk by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15.

How we protect water quality every day

Most of us turn on the tap without thinking much about what happens before the water reaches our glass. Or what happens after we use it to ensure treated water meets standards before returning to the environment. Water Quality Month is a good time to recognize the people, testing, and monitoring that help keep Roseville’s water safe and reliable every day.

The city beneath the city

You probably know Roseville by what you can see: neighborhoods, parks, busy streets, shops and schools. But there is another Roseville that most of us will never see. Just below our feet is a sprawling network of pipes, valves, pumps and other equipment working around the clock.

Some pipes bring drinking water to your faucet. Others carry wastewater away after you flush, shower or run the dishwasher. Another network delivers recycled water for irrigation and other approved uses, putting highly treated wastewater to beneficial use again. It is a vast hidden network and keeping it working takes a lot more than burying a pipe and forgetting about it.

For one morning, we’re opening the gates at a Roseville groundwater well that is normally closed to the public. Join us Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at 4030 Solaire Drive for a free, family-friendly open house.

Explore the site, meet Roseville water professionals and learn how groundwater supports our water supply during dry conditions and how we can store water underground when surface supplies are plentiful. Kids activities and refreshments will be available.

RSVPs are encouraged, but curious drop-ins are welcome.
