August 3, 2021 Roseville calls for mandatory 20 percent water conservation in anticipation of worsening drought Beginning August 9, water users throughout Roseville are required to reduce water use by 20 percent. Although the City has adequate supply to meet demands, continued drought conditions throughout the fall and winter will further stress water supply at Folsom Lake and throughout California. As part of the mandate, Roseville is implementing landscape watering restrictions, including designated watering days. Learn more about the restrictions and ways to reduce your water use. Save water with the help of house calls and rebates Did you know that your bathroom is the largest consumer of indoor water? Save water one flush at a time with a rebate for replacing your old toilet with a newer, more efficient model. Save water outdoors by swapping out lawn-heavy landscaping for more water-wise alternatives with the Cash for Grass rebate. Plus, be sure to take advantage of Water Wise House Calls for a free assessment of your current water use and recommendations for ways to save. Learn more Public workshops scheduled for proposed electric rate adjustments The cost of delivering utility services continues to rise, from meeting changing regulatory requirements to maintaining our workforce. To keep pace with these changes, Roseville Electric Utility is recommending necessary rate adjustments. Please join us to learn more about these proposed changes at one of our three public workshops: August 12, 5:30 p.m. – Martha Riley Library August 26, 5:30 p.m. – Maidu Community Center August 31, 5:30 p.m. – Microsoft Teams virtual meeting Our workshops will cover the proposed rate changes and provide an opportunity to ask questions. For additional information and a registration link for our virtual meeting, visit roseville.ca.us/rates. Tips to save energy during peak hours Conservation is something we can all take part in to make a difference. When electricity demand is highest (between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.), there are simple steps you can take to save energy: Set air conditioning thermostat to 78 degrees, if health permits. Do not use major appliances (e.g. oven, dishwasher, clothes dryer). Turn off unnecessary lights in your home. Unplug unused electrical devices and power strips. Close blinds and drapes to keep the heat from the sun out. Use fans when possible. Roseville Electric Utility has a number of resources available to ensure you are receiving the most up-to-date information and conservation tips. Find out more by visiting roseville.ca.us/planahead. Find help with rent and utlility payments If you’re a renter having trouble paying your rent, utilities, or other housing costs – or if you’re a landlord trying to stay afloat with tenants in this situation – help may be available. State and local programs are distributing billions of dollars in rental assistance to help renters stay housed during the pandemic. Visit this Rental Assistance Finder to find out what this means for you and what you can do. Want to help name a Roseville park?
